Newbie - best bike for £300 or less

Afternoon all,

Currently looking for a beginner bike, nothing to flash but someone for the roads and a little XC.

Budget of £300, have been advised that is best to shram or shimano chainset and gears etc.

Found this but slightly over my budget:-

The Giant XTC SE was my first bike, had to sell it but have to say great bike.
