I have got a new set of Marzocchi All mountain 1 of ebay for a good price, i went for these because i remember they got good review in one of the magazines last year. Since buying them i have rear some awful review on these forks on the internet regarding reliability. I just wondered if any one on here had problems and if it was just a certain year/model of am1 that were tempremental. I am not sure weather to ride them now, as they are stil unused.

  • They did have quite a few problems though some people are fine with them. We had the odd one back that were loosing oil and some where shrinking. If it was a proper shop and you got the paper work you should be ok. That is assuming there a UK spec fork. I say this as if its a UK fork Windwave will sort out any problem you have with them. Be warned though there are many non UK forks or you have no proof of sale you will have to pay for any work done on them.

All Mountain 1s (2005 and 2006) are coil and air srpung and are a very reliable fork, very strong and very plush. The only criticism is that they are as heavy as a Fox 36.

All Mountain SL (2005 and 2006) and All Mountain 1 SL (2007) are air sprung only, were difficult to set up and less reliable than the coil/air version.

  • Mine are 2007 but not the SL, They have TST2. the only paper work i got is the manual and the bar code that was attached to the fork. Its a real shame because they got excellant reviews in the magazine, I am starting to think magazine reviews dont meen a thing !

It means they are an OE 2007 All Mountain 1. I've looked at the manual and they are look to be a simple air spring (Pos Air) with Lockdown (ETA) and Lockout(TST2).

Have a look on here http://www.marzocchi.com/Template/listS ... mit=Search and download the All Mountain 1 manual by clicking on the union jack and check this is the manual that came with it.

Set the sag to around 40mm by adding or removing air from the positive air (section 5.2.3). Lockout and rebound control are described in 5.3.7 and 5.3.7.1

ETA should work as described in 5.3.9

  • Ok, cheers for the info.
Is that good or bad news regarding reliablilty.
I havent ridden the yet, so if they are going to be a nightmare it might be better to stick em on ebay... But they look so good !!, dilema
Cheers again, i owe you a pint

  • I had a 2006 set a few years ago 150mm travel and had to say they were spot on, very reliable with their squelchy oil bath internals. I found them very smooth and totally fuss free tbh. Heavy though!

I've no idea about reliability. I had 2006 All Mountain 1s which were a completely different fork and they were fantastic. How much did you pay for them?
"Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."
  • They were £250 of ebay unused.

Ouch. If you can get your £250 back, then I would. I sold my Italian made, full spec, aftermarket AM1s (£499 list price) for £150 with one scratch on a decal (not even into the paint) and even then the buyer complained about the condition.

  • mine were from Merlin and were cheaper than £250 a few years ago! I think you may have paid a little over the odds there to be honest.
