The tour of britain is coming to the North East this year and one stage passes within a bike ride distance of where i live so i fancy going along to see it. I assume they use a rolling road block again so how much before the time should i get to my vantage point, dont want to miss them

I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike, I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride it where I like

I don't think the road closure is more than a few minutes ahead of the riders...?

I always get to places several hours earlier than I actually need to - especially given the fact that the time they expect the riders to reach the vantage point is just an estimate.
You just have to ride like you never have to breathe again.

Judging by previous Tours of Britain, you'd have no trouble getting in your car and driving right up beside the peloton for a close look. Don't forget to toot your horn as you go past
  • I'd get there about half an hour before the ETA, the times that the tour publishes are based on a fast schedule of 47kmh, sometimes (though rarely) the race will run ahead even of this schedule at certain points on the route.

Not sure what 'judging by previous tours' meant. But you certainly couldn't drive a car up anywhere near the race convoy unless you were particularly keen on getting arrested.

    Enjoy the race
