Sorry for the numpty question, but does anyone know if I need to go out and buy a spanner to fit these, or will a big-ass allen key suffice?

They're on mail-order and should arrive this weekend - my mallets will come off with a big-ass allen key and I just realised that I don't have a spanner for pedals!!

I wouldn't agree with nick or norco fever. No need to buy a spanner, an 8(?) mm allen key will do perfectly, just make sure they are damn tight.

  • with pedals I find that leverage from a spanner to be preferable to an allen key tbh, a pedal that works its way loose can be a bugger when out and about. a decent pedal spanner can be got for peanuts anyhow.

Allen keys slip out easily in my experience. Plus you can round the bolt off if you're not careful. Spanners are much easier for me.
