Hello,
I've ordered a helmet, bottle and a few other goodies of je James cycles a week thurs. I know their delivery is slow, but i had time to wait and they were cheap. I've ordered a bike and new tyres of them in the last few months and ive got to say other than the slow delivery they've been great.
However, i ordered these last thursday, and they e-mailed me on Saturday saying they posted it Royal Mail 1st class and even sent me the order tracking number. Great i thought, the first time theyve actually sent me an e-mail saying theyve posted it. However its now thusday and i still havent got it. I phoned them up and they confirmed that they posted it on last week sat and told me to phone tommorrow as it will be 5 working days after posting.....
I'm just wondering what could have happend if they sent a large box with a cycle helmet, bottle, bottle holder, lube, saddle bag in it through the royal mail 1st class. I should have got it in 1-2 days, ive been home from Mon-Thurs, and i havent recieved anything from the postie only bills and letters. How could the royal mail loose such a big box, ive heard of them loosing mail but come on a big box of that size? Je james even confirmed they sent it to the right address and according to the tracking on their website, it just says it hasnt been delivered and to try back again later....
Well im going to phone back tomorrow as i doubt ill get it by then and the guy said i might have the chance to cancel it or theyll try to find out where its gone with the royal mail.. Well i hope they give me a full refund as all ive done is paid them and the royal mail has lost it probably (Not je james fault), i think the shop may be able to claim compensation from the royal mail.
Any ideas of whats going on?
Thanks

I've had stuff take upto 2 weeks to arrive when sent as 1st Class parcel - doesn't happen often, but it does happen. I think Royal Mail will not even consider compensation until 3 weeks after posting.
Your contract is between you and the supplier, so I'd pester them, but in reality, they probably won't send you replacement goods until they know for sure the original is lost and they can get compensated for it.0 -
yeh thanks for the reply , wow 2 weeks!!! crazy im telling you, well according to je james i should have the item from 2-5 working days, well if i havent had it by tomorrow ill see what i can do (I actually needed the item by this wekend, i thought by ordering more than a week earlier would be no problem!)0

It is not that uncommon.
The Royal Mail say online ..
"Please wait 15 working days (from the due date of delivery) before completing this form as we would not consider an item as lost until 15 working days have elapsed"
It is fairly standard to wait until the RM declare the item lost until a replacement / refund is sent.0 -
IF it was posted 1st class, there's no real excuse for more than 2 days.
Your day to day postie won't carry such a large packed out with him. It should/will come to you via a delivery driver, from the same depot, so again no real excuse.
If you get on well with your postie it might be worth having a word with him, to see what he can find out, in the depot. Unfortunately just turning up and explaining the situation, you are likely to get the same stock answers that you've already had.
I'm one of the good guys so will still say 'hang in there', we won't let you down.0 -
I had a similar situation with CRC goods. it was Royal mail's fault. package was eventually returned to CRC and I re-orderd.
In hindsight i wish I had ccalled the local post office depot to chase up as i never received a card. i tmight have saved about a month of messing around
Give the depot a call.0 -
yeh u guys are most likely to be right i think the package might be at the depot, although only yesterday did the postie deliver a similar large package he was carrying around with him. I'll try to call the depot to find out .0

You've either got a small head, or a very generous postie, cos I ain't slogging around, for the day with a large box, on my bike.0 -
well my postie comes to my street in his big red postie van, so i guess he had the big box in there when he posted this other item a few days ago.
BTW - i cant find the number of my central sorting office here in swansea and my delivery post office tel. wont pick up. Do you think they will try to drop the package off again? As i have no card saying that they came when i wasnt in, so how am i supposed to know whats going on.0 -
Don't bother with central depot, keep plugging away at your actual depot, 9-10am is a good time, just make a general enquiry. But if your postie is your regular chappie he is definately your 1st port of call (unless he's a miserable git)
No card should, and probably does, equal no box.
It's likely to be 'in the system', perhaps missorted to another depot, it's still to soon to say 'it's lost'.0 -
oh right any idea where i can get the number to the depot? My one is the swansea depot, then there is the delivery post office which my post comes from . I've got the delivery office no. but cant seem to find depot number anywhere. I'll try asking the postie which will be sometime sat (ill have to catch him) :P0
