Fancy giving time-trialling a go (York area)?

Hi all,

Thought this would be a good section of the Road forum to post this in - if you're fairly local to York, have a roadworthy bike (any sort, doesn't need to be a flashy road machine) and would like to have a go at racing against the clock, Clifton CC are holding a "Come & Try It" event at Stockton-on-the-Forest (just north-east of York, not too far from Monks Cross shopping centre); it's around 8km on quiet lanes and costs just £2 to enter (£1 if under 18, but parental consent needed), and post-race refreshments are on offer to recharge the energy reserves. You don't need to be a member of a cycling club, and full lycra racing kit isn't compulsory - just turn up, give it a go and enjoy the evening! See web links at

to find out more about it and who to contact with any questions.

We held a similar event - as a TdF prologue tie-in - in 2007 which proved very popular indeed, with a field of 40 riders, and so are repeating it for this summer.
