Seized rear wheel
Approaching Chelsea Bridge last night i suddenly felt as if back brake had been applied and the wheel totally seized just after crossing the junction.
I think the issue is with the bearings in the rear wheel, which are sealed (so I can't remove and check/repack them). When I had the bike upside down, the wheel would spin freely, but the axle was turning with the wheel and the nut alongside the cassette therefore unwound and pushed against the dropout. Would people agree that the issue is likely the bearings?
How much of an issue is replacing these bearings? I am struggling to get the wheel out now as the exapansion has jammed the nut up against the dropout, but if I can get it out, I am happy to have a crack at replacing the bearings but don't know if I will need extra tools I don't already have.
Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance.

These so-called speed bumps are a joke....if anything, they slow you down.

Sound like the bearing cones have come loose. Sealed hubs aren't really - they just have a cap ove rthe bearings to stop (some of) the moisture getting in in the wet. Easy job to strip them down, replace the balls and put back together. See Park Tools repair help.0
