Anyone here riding it?
I've just looked on the team list and in the 12 hour event there's over 100 teams on a 70% singletrack trail - surely the first person to get in the singletrack will have a major advantage?!

I'm doing it - local boy here.
I believe there's a Le Mans style run to your bike start and then there's about half a mile sprint (riding) on a field with a track on it. Anyone taking it seriously is probably going to comfortably get to the front in time for the singletrack so the bottle neck is more likely to effect fun riders.0 -
Ok I got ya, that would hopefully break it up a bit. I was expecting a longish climb at the start to stop it bottlenecking but the course profile shows it as a flat/mostly downhill start.
If I'm first rider in our team I'm really going to want to get in front of 'the pack' so I can set my own pace and get out of the clutter.....
Your a local boy then, whats the riding like at Ashton Court, is it technical stuff?Ibis Mojo SL-r0 -
It'll depend.
Normally it's quite technical (eroded and very rooty which is fun when dry, not so when wet) and local knowledge would count for a lot. That said, we've stayed off it for a fortnight due to rain and in that time "repairs" have been made - the council normally get involved and their answer is to pour gravel on it. I've been told they've restrained themselves to pot whole/puddle filling so hopefully it'll still be a fun course (assuming the dry weather holds out and we get some hard pack).0
