One of the cleat bolts (Look Cleat - not Keo) has seized in my partners shoe. The head is a large crosspoint that would take a flat tip screwdriver, but the head is starting to burr. Any suggestions how to remove the bolt witout damaging the sole. The bolt can be sacrificed.

What I did is this. First off put lots of freeing oil on it. Secondly hacked a bit of the cleat away with a hacksaw - no idea if this made any difference but I thought it should release the screw a bit if it's not absolutely tight to the cleat. Thirdly got the biggest screwdriver I could find that fitted, put shoe on floor, screwdriver blade into screw and all my weight on screwdriver - then spent 30 minutes trying to get the frigging thing to turn and eventually it did.

it's a hard life if you don't weaken.

A similar thing happened to my friend. He undid two screws then cut away the cleat so he was left with the stuck screw sticking out of the sole. Then he gripped the screw with some mole grips to unscrew it.
When he put a new cleat on he greased the screw threads and unscrews them every so often so they don't seize up again.

if you can find a way of holding the shoe firmly enough an impact driver should be able to sort it out. good idea to lubricate as well.
