Im looking to buy my first mountain bike,so dont want to spend to much and have deciced to get a Hardrock
Is it worth spending £50 to get the disk brakes, or is there more upgrades as well??

Disc brakes are nice but I wouldn't get them over the expense of other bits. You'd probably be better saving your money and spending it on a good set of tyres. If you really want discs have you thought about getting the Carrera Vulcan?0

I'd maybe prefer the Specialized over the Carrera but that's prob the snobbery coming out of me :oops: For a budget bike I think the Carrera looks pretty good and it'll be the one I'm gonna buy my wife this month.0

Id go for the specialised try and get a 07 model, off the net at Evans cycle £229 they have the 08 model at £249.99 or if you have a bit more cash or can borrow some the cannondale f6 disc brake 2008 at £359.99 is very good, down from £439.99
Evans do have some good bikes at good prices in there sale section.A mouthfull of mud, i guess ive crashed
