Annoying Weather

Stepped out the door to go home last night and found rain type 32 (might wet the ground if no-one’s looking). Wondered whether I ought to put on my rain jacket. By the time I’d unlocked the bike, the rain was type 17 (arid conditions for a Scot), so set off without jacket on. I get half a mile down the road & it’s back to type 32. A bit further on it turned to type 47 (makes a valiant effort to wet ground) and I consider stopping to put the jacket on. However it eases off again so I carry on. Rain keeps shifting between type 28 (you only notice it if you’re doing more than 20) to type 53 (will definitely wet the ground sometime in the next 10 minutes) for the next 4 miles. Then, just as I’m about to descend the best hill of the commute, it turns to type 68 (you’ve got 5 minutes to stop & put a jacket on before you’re soaked). I’m not going to ruin a good hill, so I carry on: hill ruined by scaffolding lorry crawling along ahead of me, anyway. At the bottom I relented & put the jacket on. Two miles further on it stops raining. I can’t be bothered to stop & take the jacket off again, so I carry on. I then hit the longest cager queue since it’s been warm enough to wear my Marmite (“Hate Jams”) jersey, so I sail past cursing the fact that the cagers can’t see the thing. Arrive home with a climate inside my jacket suitable for growing orchids…
…I much preferred the soaking I got this morning. At least the weather knew what it was about!
(Apologies to Douglas!)

Ha, DNA would be proud of you.
Put's me in mind of a time spent changing an inner tube last winter when the rain was "alternating between torrential and power shower", luckily it was my first time out in my new Gore Oxygen jacket, I arrived home dry as a stone from the waist up.
Do you have a full list of rain types? would make some posts considerably shorter if we could all reference rain types by number."Impressive break"

I wore my Gore-Tex this morning and within twenty minutes I wished I hadn't bothered because it was soaked through (like the rest of me) and the only thing it was doing was making me hot.0
