Hi,

I'm after a carbon bottle cage purely for looks 8) but has to hold a bottle well. Needs to be black with a splash of red on it. So far I have found the Enigma, Elite Pase Cage and the Token TK941. Anyone use either of these cages ? and how do you find them ?

Thanks

Simon.

I have a couple of Enigma ones on my Enigma Esprit and they look the business and hold the bottles well. Not sure if they would look good on a non-Enigma bike though! I'm currently looking for a couple of similarly designed and priced (£25.00 each) ones for my Colnago CLX, preferably with a splash of blue!

Specilized ones are good, with the carbon and red look and hold your bottle nice and tight.

I've got a pair of Token 945's on my current bike and I'm impressed with them.
I previously had a pair of Specialized Rib Cage Pros on but the retention of the bottle within a few rides was very poor.

Having ordered a new bike with the shiny carbon Centuar groupset I instinctively ordered a pair of Campag Centaur bottles and cages (they were half price). They'll have to be pretty good though to stop me mounting the Tokens on it.

Only really one cage that fits your bill and that's the Arundel. Various options of cage but Bespoke Cycling had some in black carbon with........Ferrari Red trim. I won't tell you the price because you'll look at the website and want one anyway.

They are the best bottle cages I ever had - far far far better than the Tacx Taos (which are good and seem to get excellent reviews off everyone).

The Centaur cages actually hold the bottles nice and tight. The bottles "sorta click in and out" making for a very secure hold on them.

Sounds good. They certainly look the part (now just waiting for the god damn bike!) I was a little confused as to why the two-piece design though.
  • These look pretty good and are black and red:

or these, in matt or gloss:

I can recommend Elite Pase (with red) or Patao (with silver writing so doesn't meet your criteria). They both work well with SiS and Elite bottles.

Bear in mind that the bottle/cage combination matters so kamikaze bottle reports may be a problem with the combination but not necessarily the cage with the bottles you want to use.

Is there any advantage with the Centaurs having a traditional style base design? The Centaur would go with my group set but for the same money you can get monocoque cages like Tokens Bontrager etc

Do they take any bottle shape or do you need a special bottle?

    OTH
I'm just using SIS 750ml bottles and the cages hold them really well
