does anyone know if you can get chaintugs to fit vertical dropouts. Its for my old merckx single speed conversion. My LBS says no but I'm sure I've heard people mention them ?

I'm probably missing something here but what would be the purpose of 'tugs in vert d'outs? Where would they be tugging what? And how are you tensioning the chain at present?

i chain tension by the the tight axle in the dropout, but it edges forward over time. the tug might hold it position - would this be a tug at all ?

Your dropouts can't be vertical then.

Do you by any chance mean forward facing horizontal dropouts rather than "vertical"?

Cyclo used to do chain tugs for forward facing dropouts and they crop up on eBay every now and then.
