I'm looking to spend £800 on a new road bike - I'm a mountain biker with a liking for road bikes too :-)

£800 is really my max - Being a MTB er I tend to trust (and like the look of) brands like Spesh, Trek etc

I've been looking at the Trek 1.5, 1.7 - anyone seen any deals on them or the 1.9 ?

Don't like the 08 Allez at that price and the Roubaix is out of my price range :(

Any advice ?

cheers

    Hi there,
I was in the same position as you a month or so ago, max £800. I looked at the bikes you've mentioned too, best thing to do is go to your LBS, get measured up and try the ones out you've got your eye on, you might see something else that catches your eye too. I ended up with an Orbea which I preferred to the ones on my short list. The bike retailed at 800 but i found it online for 700 and my LBS matched this price no quibbles.
All in all, well pleased :D:D
    Hope this helps

There are a few places still got the 07 Allez (Elite) in. Better components than the 08 model and around £700
