Have at look at the ctc website - their insurance is good value and comprehensive...

Do any of you insure your bike for your commute to work?!
If so do you include roadside recovery, public liability etc?!!
Got mine a few weeks ago mainly for the public liability (can just imagine some wee ned p*ssed out his skull on Bucky stumbling out from behind a tree and winding up under my wheels... which will no doubt then be my fault!).

Then I had a spill a few days later and just knowing that any serious damage (fortunately there wasn't any) would be covered was such a weight off...

Went through Evans... just because they gave me a leaflet when I bought the bike and I'm an easy mark.

The household policy covers me and the bike and being a member of the CTC provides me with all the 3rd party cover I need.

I don't think anyone in the UK does 'recovery'. I usually ensure I have enough cash on me to get the train from whereever I am. I have thought about the practicality of getting a taxi home/to the closest train station.

watch out for the household cover insurance.
Last year My son had his bike nicked which we claimed for, then two months later he got one of MY bikes nicked! so we claimed again. The total claim being around £650 in total.

When it came to renewal, suprise suprise our premium had gone up by some £300+ !
I queried it (Norwich Union in case you're wondering) and they denied it was because of a claim, however when I suggested I look elsewhere they basically told me that no one else would touch it because I had claimed in the last 12 months.
I tried and several leading insurers refused (because of the claim) I finally went through AA and they sorted it out very helpfully with no increase.
I now have a specialist cycle cover through CTC.

As for Norwich Union, I'll never go there again and recomend to anyone else to not bother.
You get insurance to be able to make these sort of claims (it was the first in 12 years of household cover) and not expecting to get ripped off in return.
Some insurance companies are just a boil on the arse of humanity!
