A refereshing change on Campag. vs. Shimano.....

I'm replacing SPD pedals, and would like a pair that are:
Easy to get out of
Have plenty of float
Have a good platform

Optional plus points for:
Ease when walking
Place to stick reflectors

Time pedals have been suggested to me, however I wondered whether Look pedals would be just as good, since they seem to be cheaper.

    I'm one for Time
Used them for about 20 years

They are easy to get out of
Can be a bugger to clip in though
    Have plenty of float
    Have a large platform
The newest type are easier to walk in
    Nowhere to put reflectors

I use them instead of Look because it is easier for my ankles. Have broken my ankles in the past. Look has a wrong twist for me - Time has a good twist.

Ditto gundersen. I have used Time for 14 years - I went back to Look for half a season and found that they wrecked my knees so switched back to Time.

I have heard some people likening Time pedals to walking on ice but I have never found that with the rotational and angular float The float works really well for me and I would recommend you give them a go, with the caveat that all bodies are different so what works for me, might not do so for you.

You can get the Time Xen pedals for under £40.
  • Used both look and Time and i also found Time to be best in terms of knee comfort. i personally didn't find much difference in terms of disengaging (both pretty easy) but Times are perhaps a little harder to get into.

If i didn't commute (where ease of entry in traffic is very important) i wouldn't have switched to Speedplay. However having made the switch i have to say that, apart from the price and amount of maintenance, speedplays are awesome.

I've just moved on from the 2001 SPD's and bought some Look Keo sprints in RED

I am very happy with them, good platform, very easy to get in and out of, and I now do not walk like a constipated duck over glass when walking.

There isn't much space to put reflective stickers, you could always put theom on your shoes !

Altogether a massive improvement fromthe SPDs (cant comment on Time)
