I agree. Bought these shoes (Spesh BG MTB Sport) over the internet and went for a size 8. A bit of a risk when some manufacturers' shoes can come up a bit small/large but they fit perfectly and were really comfortable from day one. I suppose I was lucky but it is really all about what fits nicely...
Sidi shoes are supposed to be good too... if you can afford a decent pair. I think their entry level mtb shoe starts at about £80. Personally I would want to spend a bit more on their middle of the range shoe if I went the Sidi route.
Northwave shoes are very good and you could probably find a pair similar to the BG MTB Sport for around £60.
DHB shoes at wiggle are rather good as well. Quality much better than price would suggest. Slightly on the samll size with sizing tho, so get a size bigger than normal.
