Anything on before the Tour, and is the Tour schedule out yet?

David Harmon said at the end of today's stage that we will see them next during the Tour, so I'd assume there is no Pro Tour cycling on - but who knows!

The Dauphine Libere is listed on their website TV listings. But the coverage isn't exactly extensive.

Maybe DH meant him and Sean won't be commentating. It might be Duffers and Carlton Kirby (good grief, he's bad).

Worse, there is live tennis beforehand on some days, and we all know what that means.

I like Carlton Kirby! But Davd Duffield is just annoying, like having a loud fly in the room.

This should be a great stage just set up for a momentous solo breakaway .................:-)

The Dauphiné is commentated by Duffers every year. Last year he was completely alone. For a week. Awful. Just plain awful. The race was good but I just can't watch it with the sound on.

ITV usually have better TDF coverage than Eurosport, and Phil Ligget and Paul Sherwin are much more entertainment value

The ITV highlights package might be better than the Eurosport highlights package but in recent years Eurosport have had good coverage of the TdF during the day. Not just live race coverage but discussion and analysis in the studio - something they don't seem to do for any other cycling race. I'm more a Harmon and Kelly man myself too though Liggett and Sherwin aren't bad.

you do have to put up with Duffield in dodgy socks, or his red, white and blue Bastille Day get up though!!

Agreed. Eurosport are pretty bad at covering cycling for 11 months of the year, but they generally get the Tour de France spot on.

Last year they used to show the roll out of each stage live, get some interviews with the riders, then have the studio stuff with James Richardson maybe an hour or two later, then show the actual race.

The day after Rasmussen got chucked out was amazing. I don't think I moved from my sofa for about 6 hours :P

Not to mention Roche in his shirts that are three sizes too small.

Plus it's always fun to watch Roche getting more and more p!ssed off with Duffers as the race progresses.

That is a sport in itself.

I see Duffers has been relegated to the Premier Calendar stuff BritESport were putting on after the Giro coverage.

I know he is past his best and rambles a bit, but Duffers should be beyind criticism. He is a legend.

    Agreed! Duffers is a legend.
Of course the Dauphine may be (horror!) Mike Smith with his ramblings about stuff going on in the UK. Get back to the dungeons in Paris.
If it's ITV it's be (groan!) Sgt Maj Sherwin - stand by yer bikes, sorry, MACHINE - you're in a BIKE RACE.

(Don;t believe me? Keep a poll on how many times he says it during the Tour coverage!)

I used to love the Phil Liggett, Paul Sherwin double act but over the years they have lapsed into a cliched style of commentating which is...choosing words carefully... cheesy.

Time for some new blood on ITV4 perhaps?

David Harmon I like, I think he and Sean Kelly is developing into a good double act.

I find myself falling asleep to Sean's Monotone.... ZZzzzzzzz

Liggett is a ledge but i agree the partnership of him and Sherwin needs a re-jig. I'm fed up with hearing the same old drivel every year. Plus their blatant head in the ground view on the doping scandals was uncomfortable. i know they didn't want to diss the sport on national tv but still...

Looking forward to the 'Imlach' this year mind....
