Goodmorning everyone...
It should be exciting today! I hope all the contenders are in top form today.
As usual, http://cyclingfans.com has come though with some live streaming options, so I'm happy.

So much for the TT being a straight competition between Bradley W & Dave M for the win.
I think our boys hadn't realised how demending the last few mountain stages would beso many cols,so little time!0 -

Yeah, I thought they'd do better too.
This is my first time really watching the Giro. Those mountain stages were killers!!!

Some very poor times from the trialing "deisels". Very untypical of GT contenders. Usually they are hammering huge chunks of time from the rest, a la Le Tour.
I'm almost daring to believe the juice hasn't flowed quite as freely.
Yates was true to his word. Dertie does the time trials. Can't say Astana added much flavour to a fairly dull Giro.
Quite probably due to the above, rather than horrific parcours.
Back to the beach for Bert, for a well earned......er.....rest.
If I were him, I'd stay there until the end of August. It obviously does the trick.
Oh, High Horse's dope monitoring programme is obviously working wonders."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

dull in what way??
I thought it was one of the best Giro's for years. :shock:0 -

Since this was the first Giro I've really followed closely, I'm not sure how it rates with others. But I thought it was a very exciting race too, Chris.

I thoroughly enjoyed it too Dawn and will buy the dvd when its out.Mind Ive always enjoyed the Giro more than the Tour.0

While there were some exciting stages, overall it wasn't that exciting. IMO that is. If you've not watched the Giro get the 05 DVD's and see an amazing race.
Best guy won. Perhaps he wasn't overly exciting but he rode a smart race. But winning Grand Tours is all about being conservative.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -
That's my feeling as well, Iain. 2005 is tops.
Some of this year's big stages failed to ignite.

Absolutely. Getting 3 riders in the top 5 of a TT is perfectly normal.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -
I don't why but I always think it's not a proper GT win when the winner doesn't actually win a stage.0

Well, I have to ask, don't I? Where should those High Road riders have finished then? And who should be in the top 5 instead? Is there any result you guys wouldn't cast doubt on?Le Blaireau (1)0 -

I'm just joshing. I don't have an issue with them doing that well. Marco P is one of the best around against the clock and those others guys have had a much easier ride the last few days than the favourites.
Daveyl, what would happen if one British rider accused another of doping? :PFckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -

I've no idea. Probably something like that unstoppable force/immovable object conundrum (though Iain M. Banks has solved that one). No riders of any nationality tend to accuse others of doping though. Except Simoni :-)Le Blaireau (1)0 -
And 4 Brits in the top 13 of the final TT. A nation of testers indeed. (Two Slipstream riders up there too. Nudge nudge wink wink, eh I bet that Vaughters has really got the internal doping system working pretty well, nudge nudge wink wink say no more?)
Oh, and though the time gap to first place is quite large, Gustav Larsson has finished pretty high up on GC, 14th @ 27:25. Is that his first GT finish?Le Blaireau (1)0 -

You can't have it both ways. Cleaner riding will normally equal a more tactical battle. Tired GC riders can't attack at the end of 3 week tour it isn't really possible. Armstrong era maybe but now blood transfusions seem to be a bit risky.0
