Shimano vs Time pedals float

Does anybody know the lateral float of an XTR pedal? I can't find it on the Shimano website. I'm getting right knee problems and was thinking of switching to Time ATAC pedals for their increased float but I think the ATAC XS range and XTR pedals may have the same float after all, not sure. Also I hear there are some horror stories regarding mountain biking and titanium axle pedals. Anybody heard anything like this?
