wipperman? chains seem to be quite expensive compared to shimano ultegra - are they worth the extra money. Presently have a shimano 105 chain but now have ultegra chain wheels and cassette. Any comments appreciated.

    The shimano joining pin is utter w@nk and best avoided, the chains are fine but that little downsides lets it all down (same with Campag actually)

    Wippermann, KMC and SRAM chains are the ones to look for.
