Yet more wheel questions.

Following a fairly large bump to both my wheels (totally my own fault) it appears that word from the bike shop is that the rims have been flattened a bit and despite doing what they can and making the wheels ridable they will not be brilliant. My question is, do I bother buying 2 new inner tubes and 1, maybe 2, new tyres or just go for a pair of new wheels.

My thinking is that the £40 I would spend may as well just go towards new wheels.

Does anyone have any suggestions of reasonable wheels that are not too expensive (around the £100 mark?!?). I have an '07 Trek 1000. I commute approx 100 miles per week and am doing my 1st sprotive next month.

For about a hundred pounds you could get the new version of Shimano WR550 which I have and would recommend. Mine have had some big hits and remained true untill my water bottle and cage came off the frame and jammed the rear wheel. The ride was finished after slackening the brakes, the wheel is now like new after being fettled by a professional wheel builder.

Shimano WR550 wheels are great, provided you don't weigh much more than 80kg. Otherwise, I'd get mavic aksiums -they have more spokes and generally stay true longer.
