Another Bike Insurance Question

I have cover against theft from my property(Direct Line) but they won't cover me for events like sportives,tt's or racing. I tried various others but they all have the same stipulation that the bike must be kept in the house( not an option according to 'SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED') So any recommendations? Can I get single event insurance? Or do I insure with E&L for the competitive element and rely on Direct Line for the theft cover? Is this legal?
