Hi all, I an a new member to the site and also biking who needs advice on buying a mountain bike.
I have just moved to Thetford in Norfolk and want to take advantage of the forrest/countryside around me, and also lose weight in the meantime.
I have £1000 to spend. Bike Art and Halfords are within shopping distance, so the choices that I am looking at are Boardman from Halfords, (who have just received a good review in a mountain bike magazine) or Giant, Kona or Scott from Bike Art.
I think that must point out that I'm 22 stone and 49 years of age, so there will be a fair amount of weight/strain put on the bike before I even start off.

Hope you can help.
Cheers

The Boardman Pro is a great spec for the money, much better spec than a Kona of the same price ! Well worth popping to Halfords to try one out .
