Flew in today

Must be a combination of it being half-term, me being off the bike for 6 days and having a Bianchi to chase down and hitting a few lights spot on.

I did not get a PB but it was the best I have done outside of quiet runs over Christmas - it was no more than 38 minutes for 10 miles - I did not even have a tailwind.

Normally I do it in around 42 / 43 so I celebrated by going for a swim when I got to the gym where I change......and by consequently eating lots.

Really looking forward to the ride home tonight - although I will probably bonk 5 miles in!

Anyone else enjoy their ride today?

    I love half term traffic!!

This morning I over-dressed (looked out the window and it appeared to be worse weather than it actually was) and rode in slower than normal to avoid overheating. It was a charming and relaxing journey along mostly quiet roads. Nobody tried to kill me. All in all, today was a good day

This morning was 'interesting' in places - lots of damp leaves on the road that had been sqashed into a slippy mush by passing traffic...

However, half term traffic levels is great.

I too flew in today, the only downside was that I was in my car as I'm working on the only site that I have to drive to!......having said that I still think I set a PB as I arrived a good 20-30 minutes before I usually do with the lack of traffic and I already had a good days worth of cycling on Tuesday, covering just over 35 miles in the one day :-)

Should hopefully be back on the bike Monday, just hope the nice weather is here to stay!

  • I wondered why it was so quiet this morning, forgot it was half term, kids have long since flown the coop.

Wore new shoes on the journey home (in the rain) today so probably my slowest time for a while. Specialized BG MTB shoes - decidedly not waterproof :) But comfy and firm - it'll take a couple of rides to get used to the slightly more removed feel, I expect.

Tuesday I beat my PB though - my first 16mph+ average commute!
