hardcore all mountain for a grand

any suggestions for an all mountain rig that can cope with hard riding. want a full susser. i'm 6"2', 14stone(tryin to get that down a bit ;-) ). 34'inside leg. trying to avoid commencal and saracen due to a mates bad experience with his. air forks/shock would be nice. need a bike that will last forever cos it's taken me 4/5ish years to save up a grand. just havin a bit of trouble finding one at this price. willing to go up(borrowing) or down a couple of hundred according to suggestions
