any suggestions for an all mountain rig that can cope with hard riding. want a full susser. i'm 6"2', 14stone(tryin to get that down a bit ;-) ). 34'inside leg. trying to avoid commencal and saracen due to a mates bad experience with his. air forks/shock would be nice. need a bike that will last forever cos it's taken me 4/5ish years to save up a grand. just havin a bit of trouble finding one at this price. willing to go up(borrowing) or down a couple of hundred according to suggestions

Anything else you'd like for that budget!!!?

Slightly over budget but a Specialized Pitch Comp is potentially your best bet!

i have a specialized retailer up the road from me so ill go see him to have a little test/get an idea of sizing. unfortunately no one near here has anything to do with cannondale :( so it would be a bit hard to go and see one plus i really like the paint on the pitch comp

The Prophet got reviewed as the best full suss for a grand. If I were you, I'd find somewhere and try it, regardless of distance.

When you're spending that much hard earned cash - you HAVE to make sure you try everything.

Spech' Pitch Comp without a doubt.

Mine is bloody brilliant and with the added advantage of as you save some more sponds' you'll be able to upgrade any bit you fancy.

You even get a Pike with a Maxel, the best thing in teh world :D

You can always try a local evans . Right now theyre putting some of their selected high end rigs down in price for the 1/2 term (frames selected by the manager of said store only) . Managed to get a 1700 grand scott Ransom for only £1400 because of them

If you can wait another 3 or 4 months you should be bale to pick up a discounted bike in the sales. It is not unusual for the likes of Marin, Specialized, Kona, Trek etc to knock between 25% and 30% off the price of their bikes at the end of the season.

Check out the Mongood Teocali range too, if you care more about value than brand image.

They have quite good reviews and offer great VFM.
