Do you protect your bikes when transporting on a rear rack?
Chaps,
thinking of getting a Thule rear rack that takes 4 bikes.
When you drive any distance, and the weather might be rubbish, do you wrap/protect anything on the bike?
I suppose I'm thinking of bar tape that could get saturated if it rains for the duration of the trip?

It depends on how the rack works (and how many bikes you want to carry) but the bike bag from Chainreactioncycles (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=20604) has two zips at the top that can be undone leaving two holes that enable you to put the bike on a rack inside a bag! You will have to remove the wheels to get the bike in the bag though (bag comes with 2 wheel bags too).0

Hi Becky,
the rack I am thinking to use is like this:
So alas I fear your method will not be compatible, as the bikes sit in wheels down, and then these are ratchet strapped in.
I'm assuming some people must transport their roadbikes like this?

The picture doesn't work, but from your description your rack sounds like it works lilke mine. I'm afraid my bikes get wet if they are on the back and it starts raining, or covered in flies if it is hot and sunny0
