in the nearish future i'm looking at splitting my 24/7 into two bikes
1. a hardcore hardtail
2. a XC machine using the 24/.7 frame
for the hardcore hardtail i'm going to try and reuse most of the parts off my 24/7 as they are all heavy duty here is one frame i'm looking at

but wandered if anyone had other suggestions

I don't know anybody that doesn't love this bike0 -
would that work with 100mm travel forks and would it be suitable for jumping?0

would this be better http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=228410

The 456 isn't a jump bike but should handle a bit of everything- If looking to use it as a 'play' bike, consider going for a slightly smaller size than normal as the top tube is fairly long- great for 'all day' 'do anything' riding, but maybe a bit annoying if you're building it up as a chuck around bike. I think it was received very well in DIRT magazine for the type of thing you might want it for
The standard inbred would be less suitable I'd assume just based on the fact that on-one talk about the 456 in terms of it being a stronger version of the standard inbred.
456 might not be so good stuck on 100mm forks if your looking at aggressive riding. It'd work and would be a fine trail bike, but it sounds like you're after something a bit more than that
all the above just my experience with a 456- fantastic all rounder0 -
jumping is becoming more and more afocus of my riding and so the frame has to be suitable/strong enough. i was thinking about a 14" 456 though you do not believe this to be ideal?0

Most "hardcore hardtail" frames are designed for forks longer than 100mm.
Is it a jump bike you're after really? If so, there's loads of cheap frames out there.0 -
have a look at some of the NS frames on chain reaction they look really sweet and they have a variety of 100mm fork frames and 140mm-160mm ones for 'hardcore hardtails'
i.e. this one (100mm DJ bike): http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=22284
or the hardcore hardtail frame:

a few of my friends have varying incarnations of NS bikes and they all swear by them0 -
its definately a jump frame i'm after, i was looking at some of charge's offerings0
