Disc Brake Adapters

Forks: 2008 Marz MX Pro Los with std 6" post mount
Brakes: 2006 XTR IS mount calipers
This is all for a mate's new bike that we are co-building. We got all the parts in and then realised we didn't have a mount for the front brake, duh! So I get a facebook message saying that he thinks he has ordered the wrong mount from CRC and that he can't find the correct one on the site.
Now I'm going to take a stab that this is what we are after. Can anyone confirm?
Yes I know its retarded, I know its late but any help appreciated![/url]
EDIT: Ah, I'm getting confused now. The description says post mount caliper - IS mount fork. We clearly have the opposite. Hmmm conundrum!

What size rotor do you have/want? I am pretty sure with going from an PM fork to IS caliper you have to up the rotor by 20mm from the standard rotor the fork is designed for.0
-
Its a 160mm rotor as well.0
-
then you need a post (fork) to IS (caliper) adaptor.
the one you link to is the other way round."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

This is not the correct item IMO
This is http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=13735 but as stated above you have to go to a 180mm rotor as well.
This is the official Shimano one http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=13744 which works with a 170mm rotor but you will note the comment on Marzocchi forks."Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0 -

shimao do the same one that allows a 160mm disc to be used. as do formula etc....."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Not come across them Nick, got any links?"Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0

11.5376.302.900 CPS Mounting Bracket Extruded Front 160mm/Rear 14 0mm Rotor
how many bikes have you seen with IS forks and Post brakes with 160mm discs? lots i guess. just not have it click..
Zoom in on the fork."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Sorry Nick, can't open the jpg at work - firewall won't let me - but unless I'm misunderstanding, it's not an IS fork and a post-mount caliper the OP has, it's a post mount fork and an IS caliper.
Edit: got the link to work now (at home) and the pic is the opposite arrangement to the OP i.e. IS fork to post-mount caliper."Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0 -
here is you getting me all confused.
Arrgg not possible with a 160mm disc.
damn multi tasking."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

ddoogie hope you can make sense of this thread. To the best of my knowledge, my post at 12:58pm is correct but I'm not sure why the warning about new Marzocchi Post Mounts on the Shimano bracket - probably some clearance isue you need to watch out for."Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0

sorry to add another bit of confusion here (I'll start another thread if it gets a bit too much!)
Currently, I have an IS fork, with a 180mm (or thereabouts, it's an old hope c2, so maybe 183mm) caliper. HOWEVER, I have a +20 adapter, to fit a 203mm disc.
my problem is that I'm getting a 6" POST mount fork, and want to fit my IS 180(ish)mm calliper, to work with a 203mm fork.
so, I think I need this adapter
which, according to my logic, would take my 180(ish)mm calliper, and fit it onto a 6" post mount fork, and add the 20mm extra to fit my 203mm disc.
does that make sense? am I correct?0 -

Number 3 caliper? 185mm front disc 165mm rear disc."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Does the setup I suggest with the post mount fork make sense to you?
(hopefully I can confirm whether or not it works on friday )
Oh, as for the fork adapters not fitting 2008 marzocchis, I have it on good authority that they will fit fine with a little filing.
But, if someone DOES buy one, and can't make it fit, don't blame me!0 -
so you want to fit a Number 3 caliper to what fork."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
right so this http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=13735 will allow fitments (with filing as you say) and a 205mm disc."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

ah, good, so that's three of us that agree!
It is a bit confusing that some manufacturers name their adapter fork to calliper (in my case POST to IS) whereas other manufacturers name them calliper to fork (which in my case would be IS to POST) :roll:0 -
We got a working adapter in the end. A hope +20mm one worked well.
Turns out the hoses that had been supplied with the XTR brake set were about 30cm too small for the rear brake as well. So that needed another £20 shelling out for a new hose and fitting!
Cheers guys!0
