Thinking about changing tyres (again) to something around a 2.1 size for general riding - not many rocks - just a mixture of most other surfaces. The tyres must be able to convert via Joes no flats so I`m thinking either Maxxis High roller 2.1 eXception or Conti mountain king 2.2 Protections. I cant find the durometer of the MK`s though - anyone know ?

i have converted both high roller and mountain kings to tubeles but using stans on mavic ust rims.
i am using 2.1 high rollers and 2.2 folding mk. the maxxis were easier by far to seat and seal but both are running fine.0 -
anyone else have riding experience of these ?

I have the Mountain Kings 2.4 - took the bike out for it's first ride today at Dalby forest and the tyres coped very well. I found one short climb where they lost traction and that's because all the tread got completely filled with sand.0

I've converted a High Roller using a Joe's kit, and it was an absolute pig to seat. In the end it took three attempts and finally only seated with the aid of a compressor. Now it's on, I really don't rate it as highly as the Panaracer Cinder I had on last summer or the Bonty Mud X's (also tubeless) I've had on over the winter Maxxis High Rollers are very well respected and award winning tyres, but it just doesn't feel good to me :?
I've also converted a Maxxis Ignitor LUST which was an absolute cinch to fit, two one-handed track-pump pumps and it was away. The tyre's excellent too, it's rolling resistance feels reasonable, it doesn't clog with mud too badly, and it's grip is very good
I've not used the Conti MK's, but I'd go the Conti route or the Maxxis Ignitor's if I were you!0 -
been using mountain king 2.4s UST for a while now and really rate them, seem like a good all rounder and have a good level of grip in all conditions. Had mine going since about Sept last year and they don't even look worn at all, so I think they will be hardwearing too.0
