If you enjoy servicing pedals, try Speedplays, they need servicing regularly too. Seriously, Time would be my choice - robust and proven design. Excessive bearing wear might an indication of foot / cleat alignment problems.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

You could try Keo carbon, they have 3 bearings where the classic and sprint have 2.
I'm still using my Look PP56s,the chunky white ones.About 25 years old and still as good as new.I just pack them with grease every January.

Cheapo Shimano 105 5610s? Around £35 delivered. They might be cheap, but they seem to do the job aswell as far more expensive pedals. I have 105s, old and new types on my bikes.

The problem I had was with the plastic plates wearing out on the old types, but the new type has a metal plate and is far longer lasting.
    I like bikes...
