Does anyone know if i can buy just a gearset?
I need a new cassette, chain and chainset for my 8 speed alvilo set-up but looking at it the proces cheapest I can do it with a deore octalink chainset is £60.
Given the price of the full group sets looks like i may as well buy a bulk deore set and get an upgrade to 9-speed for a few quid extra.
thing is I don't need the brakes as i'm very happy with my juicy 5s so does anyone know if its possible for me to just buy a gear set rather then the full group for around 80 or 90 quid?

You could always buy the full groupset & sell what you don't want/need?

Deore V-Brake Groupset here for £113.95. Then Ebay the brakes and levers - you should get £10-20 for them.
