Hi

I'm after a quick release seapost clamp for my Trek 9.8 in 39.85mm. Does anyone know of a company that makes them? Hope and the likes of go up to about 36 or 38mm...

Cheers

    38 should be fine.

How did you get the 39.85 measurement?

Usually the size is stamped on the inside of the clamp.

My current bolted Bontrager carbon friendly clamp is 39.85 and it's a tight fit. No other size will do.

You might have to contact your local Trek dealer, it sounds like a very specialised size of clamp.

seriously, get a 38mm one, and prise it open a little. These things have a little give anyway to accomodate opening and closing. opening a 38mm one to 40mm shouldn't be an issue.

Personally I'd err on the side of caution, it's a carbon frame, carbon doesn't like being crushed.

IIRC the trek ones are also very wide. I think you will be stuck with the original one.

The one I have is not the original clamp. Bontrager is the only company I have found that does a 39.85 quick release clamp but it's not carbon friendly. I reckon Bontrager is the only company that does such a wide quick release clamp 'cause all Trek bikes come with Bontrager components... I was hoping to find a nice anodised blue clamp though... :)

Bontrager and Trek are the same company.

I know. That's why they're probably the only company that does such a wide clamp as I said.
