EUROSPORT
Well i thought we got a bad deal during the classics. But this is actually idiotic. GREEK basketball repeat, or live Giro Mountain stage. You guessed it, the basketball.
I accept it begrudgingly, when they put on live roland garos ahead of the Giro. But this is stupid. And tommorow, no coverage whatsoever.
Don't bother sending in e-mails to David Harmon, as you'll just get some patronising moan "it's not Eurocycling its Eurosport" etc.

Well there's no point in complaining to Harmon's email address. He doesn't do the scheduling and I bet he's as peeved as we are. Even so I wouldn't like to see his inbox when people see that there's no live coverage AT ALL of such an important (and eagerly anticipated) stage.
I agree with what you say though. Fair enough that the main Eurosport channel is taken over by the French Open tennis. It's probably their biggest ratings puller all year. But if you're gonna use ES2, why not use it properly?! Who the hell thought a repeat of Greek basketball would be better than the queen stage of the Giro?0 -
its a real shame that tennis seems to be taking over E S scheduling at a main point of race i guess we just have to rely on internet screening at lest Italian commentators bring the excitement level up even if you cant understand what they are saying0

Unfortunately some of live in an area without high speed internetYou live and learn. At any rate, you live0

You have two choices: pay Murdoch & son for "British Eurosport" and get the service you've just described, or buy an old Ondigital dish and decoder for the real thing (ie "European Eurosport"). I took up the second option and saw the last two hours of the stage, with commentary from Messrs Harmon and Kelly, for free.0

I got the first and watched the end of the stage with that brutal climb. Sometimes I also catch the live streams online.
Sucks about tomorrow but are the NRK and RAI streams still going on I take it?0 -
I think it's quite good.Dan0

Yep! I'm watching a beautiful NRK feed via http://cyclingfans.com/

Its a rest day tomorrow - hence no coverage!
i do agree its been a pretty poor show form Euro(ball)sport.0 -
It was yestarday that i wrote that there was no coverage tomorrow. i.e. Highlighting the fact that there seems to be a lack of live coverage today, due to BSB and first round tennis. You live and learn. At any rate, you live0

Surely they could give us the red button like the BBC do for some programmes, that way they would see how big the following is for cycling.Especially on such a key stage.0

Even the French Eurosport guys were on before the Brits. And you'd imagine Rolland-Garos is kind of important to the French, wouldn't you? By the way, if any of you are fluent in French and can get reception, I strongly recommend them. Their race-reading, analysis and annecdotes are miles ahead of Harmon, and let's just say Durand is more volubile than Kelly.
But you're always going to get more "Mainstream" coverage taking precedence. NRK cut off a Giro stage for some hockey (the day before we killed them 8-1), for instance. At least, you get some coverage. We have a whole country here with zero coverage, and our southern neighbours only have weekend recaps narrated for mentally-retarded, cycling-newbie chimps on a cable channel.
It could be much worse. At least we have the interwebs.0
