Hey
I have been into bmx for a while now and i want to move on to mtb, i just dont know which bike would be suitable for my age 13.
Can anyone give advice on which bike would be good for me?
I have seen bikes i like but they are around a thousand pounds. I just need advice on a fairly cheap bike that would be good for down hill and offroad (woods).
Plese if anybody can help or give me websites to visit please reply to my message.
Also do you reccomend a bike with gears or not for what i want it for?
Thankyou

What's your budget?0

my budget is around £100-£6000

The £485 Kona Blast cmes out tops in this months MBR budget hardtail shoot-out and would cope with fairly technical terrain. However you talk about "downhill" so if you mean full-face helmet, full body armour type of riding then you may want something very robust with more front travel (which will be heavier and won't go up hills very well). Again I think Kona make some suitably robst bikes for more downhill orientated work (Shred?).Commencal Meta 5.5.1

Also for what i want it for is it worth having gears ir single speed?0

Get gears if you want to ride over various terrain.
Some very good bikes around 500 quid, and thats what I'd recommend spending, leaving 100 for a helmet, and bits and bobs. If you have the money spend it - 500 quid bikes are a lot better than 300 quid ones!
Again you need to clarify what you mean by 'downhill'0 -
i have a cannondale f5 £550 good bike for the cos0
