The speedplay grease gun takes "marine" grease, which I assume is particularly waterproof/durable or something. I think the bearings aren't sealed in the same way that other pedals are, the design relies on you re-greasing with the right sort of grease every few thousand miles.

I guess you could use any grease gun or grease tube with a nozzle that is narrow enough to fit in the hole in the pedal. Don't know if the marine grease is significantly different from normal grease or not.

Why not just get the speedplay grease gun?

I use a good waterproof, Teflon type grease and I purchased a Chainsaw grease fitting from the local hardware store. (this allows me to use my present grease-gun. Just remove the tab on the exterior of the pedal, press fitting against pedal grease-port; place rag on pedal axle and squirt away...it doesn't take too much grease. I only service mine about once every 9000 miles.
