rear gears, trouble shifting from 1st to 2nd.....

When shifting rear derailleur from large sprocket (1) to 2nd the chain doesnt jump.
But it happily shifts from 3 to 4 to 5 to 6.

What can i adjust?

Its a Shimano Tourney derailleur with grip shift shifters.

    Try cleaning out the cables - often a gunky cable can hinder upshifts like that.

    Clean, lube with chain oil, refit, and adjust cable tension.

    Tried cleaning out the cable, gears change well up and down throughout the range, EXCEPT from large sprocket to the 2nd..... its the only one that doesnt change nicely,

    Could the sprocket have a damage that prevents it jumping down to the 2nd sprocket? Just curious now, as I dont think it'll fix.

    It could be - you'd have to check carefully the teeth profile. As little as an 1/8th of a turn of the barrel adjusters for cable tensin is often all that is necessary to fine tune.

    yup, the barrel adjuster wont do anything to encourage it shift from largest sprocket to 2nd.... Will live with it.
