Hmmm, group of 15'ish with 5 minutes on peloton.

Among them a certain Rujano.

And Sella.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.

Christian Vandevelde is there too... only 9 minutes down on GC (2 minutes on the real GC). Bet the other escapees are a bit miffed that he's there.

Hasn't anyone told Sean Kelly that the word "Classment" doesn't exist? Or are they all too scared of him?

Listening to the French Eurosport commentary now and Jackie Durand is surprisingly insightful for a rider who launched such suicidal attacks. And the word "Classement" does exist in French.

Kelly it seems has spent too long in france for you and he knows what he is saying.

    French Dictionary .....Classement.....Sport Placings

Oh right. I don't think I've heard anyone else use it in English.

Obviously caused by him being a pro for so long.

I remember him seeing a crash earlier in the season and exclaimed "chute!" He obviously thinks in French a fair bit.

Oh, baby is fine. He watching the stage with me while his mum has a snooze. When I say watch he's got his eyes closed and is quite still :D

The video quality of the Giro is dire.

I love the thought process. "Right, I'm going up the mountain to watch the Giro, I'll take the dog, it'll be a good day out for him"

Why is Jurgen Van Den Broecke doing so much work on the front of the favourites group?! He's been in the front 2 or 3 for the whole length of the climb. Very strange.

During the TdF last year, I loved Kelly's use of "Bonification" and was sure it couldn't be a real word, but I think it exists in French.

He wasn't pulling, really. He sat behind the Diqui guys and ended up alone at the front when they faltered. He seemed so ready to jump onto an attack! He's impressing me.

Well, yeah, it wasn't really a fast pace, but it still surprised me to see him so far to the front for so long. He's still there now...

    Contador is faltering as well!

    And Di Luca!

And Ricco. What's happening to the favorites today?

Glad Sella's won, he is one of my favourite riders in the peloton. Beats me why a bigger team's never signed him up, as he always seems to go well in the Giro.

Oooh that got quite exciting towards the end there.

Nice bounceback by Ricco and Di Luca, but the Astana boys suffered big time. Was quite boring aside from Sella's flyer until 3km to go and it exploded.

Is that a complete nil in PTP, then?

Yeah I thought someone picked Sella, but I just checked and no-one had him.

Some really surprising performances at the end there. Van Den Broecke and Pellizotti climbing that well?

And I guess Contador was on that beach after all. Absolutely no idea who's in pink.

What a phenomenal stage! They were really struggling at the end -- a brutal mountain top finish. Bettini looked like he was about to fall over.

Did you see the look on Sella's face when he was about 10 meters from the finish? He looked almost surprised and relieved to see it there and pointed with a smile on his face: "Hey, there's the finish!" What a great ride!!

Contador actually rode well and is probably in the Maglia Rosa. He limited his losses very well. For a bit there towards the end, I really thought Simoni was going to pull just ahead of Ricco but he faltered just a bit at the end.

BTW, has anyone noticed that the riders always look more cooked at the end of Giro mountain top finishes than at the TDF?

And what a great ride by Menchov! He's definitely in great position and form to take a run at the GC!
