Can anyone clear this up for me - I went to the local bike shop to buy/order some shoes today. I ended up going for some SH-M075's as they are at the cheap end of the market. I don't wear leather for personal reasons and asked the guy selling them to me if they were made of leather and he said no cycling shoes are made of leather. I took his word for it but checked on the net when I got home and found ads for them which said they are made of PVC coated leather.
SO........does anybody know one way or the other for sure?
Thank a lot for any help, Stevo

Wiggle says :
Fibreglass reinforced nylon plate gives added stability and support
PVC coated leather upper with stretch resistant breathable mesh panels and neoprene padded tongue add to the comfort and fit
Reflective logo on heel for enhanced visibility at night
Reflective detailing on the heel help keep you more visible in low light conditions
Weight: 623 g for a pair of size 40
So yep I'd say they use leather in their construction...0 -
Google search seems to suggest they're PVC coated leather - there is normally a tag inside shoes that with confirm.Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0

Thanks a lot for the replies, I'm going to go back in the morning and see if they have any others that I can go for instead. Shame - they looked like a good shoe.
Thanks again!0 -
I have the R075 and used them for a year now. nice shoe for the money, and as yet don't seem to show any problems.0

I went back to the shop this morning and had a look at the tags on the shoe, both the road and the MTB ones and it said they were textile or synthetic, so I'm going to go ahead and get them.
Cheers for the review woody I hope thy will serve me well too!0
