Can you guesstimate tyre pressure?

Hi all.
I've been having some bad luck with punctures recently and been reading round the site for some ideas to help stop these happening. I think my main problem was crappy tyres, crappy tubes and no idea what the inflation pressure was. Anyway, I've bitten the bullet and bought some new and better quality tyres and tubes through Wiggle.
As its the Bank Holiday weekend delivery will take ages so whilst I wait for them to arrive (and a new pump with pressure gauge) is there anyway of knowing when you've reached ~100psi when inflating? For example, should you be able to push the tyre wall in slightly or should they be rock solid?
Thanks.

I inflate my fat hybrid tyres to about 80psi and they have a tiny amount of give when squeezed hard so I'm guessing that 100psi will be pretty rock solid.0

Time to bite the bullet again and get a pump with a guage.

Opps, sorry, didn't catch the new pump part.0 -
To my fingers' feel, rock-solid starts around 120psi. 100 should give a little if you really squeeze. But it's so subjective, you can't really rely on my feeling. Pressure gauges go for less than a coffee and muffin.0
