Ahhhh, last day before the mountains proper.... Real bike racing and that.

Oh, the new arrival in our house arrived yesterday - Spencer weighed in at a Paris-Roubaix contendor-eqse 9lb2

    Congratulations!

At least you can watch the 12 midnight repeats of the giro stages while doing night feed.

Cav made it look easy this time. I'm sure someone'll find that something that he did wrong though...

another good win for Cav....looks like a long sprint, in took 3 minures with cyclingnews!

    17:02 CEST
    Bennati in third, behind Zabel.

    17:03 CEST
Martin pulls for Cav, but he goes for another wheel.

    Bennati starts the sprint!

    17:04 CEST
Cav has moved over to the left and sprints hard. Can benna hold?

    17:04 CEST
Cavendish comes past everyone very strongly!

    17:04 CEST
    Cav gives it all...

    17:05 CEST
And he takes it!!!! He gets his belated birthday present. In the end he has two bike lengths!!!

Cav humbled a few riders today by his turn of speed - there's little doubt that in a straight-line drag race, there's few that can hold that kind of pace.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

If he could get over his better and hold position he will definately be the superstar of the next few year.

Congrats to iain and Mrs f72!

Good sprint, but an extremely dull stage. You know you're in for a dull day of viewing when David Harmon spends 30 minutes explaining each of the 100 Giro classifications...

    Sort of, he's proving himself.

Still think he's a toss pot though.

    Congrats Iain.

Cav is looking like the nuts now alright. Would have liked to see Thor go up against him. I think that's the next level to aim at. That and maybe a goofed up Saunier Duval Petacchi or Mr Boonen on form.

I still can't warm to him though. He's like McEwen without the charisma.

Aaaah! Cav gets in the right position to use his absolutely massive finishing kick. No one on the Giro has any answer to that. With Ale-Jet out of the picture for a while, is there anybody with a turn of speed that could compete with Cav's? I really can't think of anybody.

Was that ever boring before they got to the circuit? Thank god for the next few stages.

Yeah but are we likely to see an in-form McEwen ever again? He seems to have totally lost it. Yesterday he was 3rd, fair enough, but he was a long way off actually winning. He's struggling to get past guys like Koldo Fernandez and Robert Forster, so what chance does he have against Boonen, Hushovd, Freire...

So... "Mark" didn't appeal? And you could've called him Marco when out of earshot of mum, too. :D

Hats off to Bennati. He could have put Cavendish into the barriers, shutting the door quite legally.
Instead, he moved over to allow the bullet to pass by.

    Right, snoozefest over! :D

Apparently, Rai commentators are saying Ricco is favourite for tomorrow, with Gibo second fav.
I think they may have forgotten someone. 8)

isn't McEwan carrying an injury or something at the minute??
  • Totally agree Mr Saddles, Bennati could have stuck to the barriers , but he
moved over, not often seen these days of the mass bunch sprint. :D:D

Is Cavendish too big for High Rd..........???
