Hey all!
My probelms is that I can not for the life of me seem to be able to bunny hop, which is a very useful skill when you start doing more serious trails or down hill stuff or even just begining doing some woods rides. Even just lifting the front wheel to do a wheelie is far past my limited skill.
does anyone have any tips/tricks or any ways to explain how do these skills?
Is there any seating possition thats best just to start out with? like lowering the seat and standing up more or throwing your weight about a bit?
Or should I post in the trials part of the forum?
My bikes is almost new, it's a cullin revoution disc sport from Edinburgh Bikes. the rear brake is a bit gammy...... after a gold service I found that the rear break cable was very loose (my arm fits in between the frame and the cable, i used to body build so my arms aint too small) i'll be getting that fixed this weekend.
Thakns all

Hmm, I've been trying to teach someone how to do short little manuals, just to drop off small obstacles and that recently, and I think I've sussed exactly what you need to do to learn the motions, but it's hard to explain in writing.
I was also going to try and put a video demonstrating bunny hopping after someone else on the forum asked a similar question - but since my wrist is currently a bit knackered, I can only hop about 4 vertical inches without my hand feeling like it's going to come off!
anyway, there's videos on the main bikeradar site that show a few simple techniques.
Also, if you go to trail centres, don't be afraid of asking some other riders, some of them may be willing to take a few minutes out to show you how it's done.
if you fancy a dvd to show you, try Ryan Leech's "art of trials". It's an excellent DVD, and covers right from the basics to the more advanced stuff in simple steps.
last, but not least, don't give up, some things may come easy, some things may make you struggle for AGES, but if you keep trying you'll get there eventually.0 -
This website has got a few good guides for the basics.

is good for starts. like all things practice makes perfect, Im still getting to grips with the basics but take your time to build up.
I use a curb to help give me some thing to hop up or manual off. or even just a rough part of the road that i ride on my way to the trail.Nothing in life can not be improved with either monkeys, pirates or ninjas

and putting the seat down nice and low whilst learning any new technique like this is a good idea. Just in case you need to abandon shipWhenever I see an adult on a bicycle, I believe in the future of the human race.

Cool! cheers dudes
yea i found out the "hard" way to put the seat down not long after posting my first. I thought my arse was sore before from a rough trail in the woods..... boy was I WRONG!
I've been told it's like your trying to smear your feet across the peddals to bring up the back wheel, i kinda understand but it'll just take time. oh well what a shame i'll just have to go out again tonight, what a hard life hehehe
cheers again
