I'm thinking of switching from a Brompton M3L to an S2L (x). Anyone used a 2 gear Brompton? If so what was it like?

Not "used" as such but I rode one yesterday (along with two other models) at "Get Cycling Show". First time I'd ridden a small wheeler and I was VERY favourably impressed by each of them (unlike the Mezzo and some Raleigh that I also tested). Of the three I thougfht the 2 speeder the best - but how it would be at real riding I know not.
I've been planning on a folder for when I get my bus pass in a few months time: it will definitely be a Brompton and probably a 2-speed!d.j.

Watch out: the two sprockets (13 and 15) offer only very close gears.
You seem to seek simplicity, so why don't you go for a single speed Brompton ? (but I don't know if it is still available)0 -

I'm getting soft in me old age - and two is double what I'm usually riding at the moment! And I understand that the Bromptons have some new fangled bits that allow the machine and rider to "freewheel"??d.j.

I have had a Brompton S2L, (not the titanium one).
I have been riding it for about three years now.
I love the bike, but I wish the smaller sprocket was a bit bigger, as I rarely go fast enough to use it comfortably. I spend 98% of the time on the larger sprocket. Mine has the 54tooth chainring. The A6 Hazel Grove - "Always the worst part of any ride".0 -
I've just posted a Q re gearing ratios prompted by Brompton's use of "Ratios (Metric)". I assume that you have a 54 front and standard 13 + 15 rear? Do you know what these give in old style inches? I THINK about 66 and 57?d.j.
