Just in case anyone near Nottingham and at a loose end for the Bank Holiday, the above "National Bike Try-out Event and Exhibition" is at Nottingham Race Course on Sat & Sun. Details at www.getcyclingshow.info apparently.

I have NO idea as to whether or not worth a visit!!

Nice to see a cycling event not being held in bl**dy London for once.

Pretty quiet lately actually. St Anns just down the road from me and I often cycle through The Meadows - I can't be doing with this "oh you daren't go THERE." As a matter of principle there is nowhere that I won't venture (daylight anyway and if on foot I wear discreet steel cappers!). And on a bike I'm never unarmed - won't help against a shooter I know but random targets not really the thing here.

    Reclaim the streets I say.

!Gun crime capital of the UK"? That's shooting talk!

Seriously I don't think it is that bad for the typical person walking down the street. I have a friend who lives right in the middle of the Meadows, always walking and riding through it and never had a problem. Well except a bus deciding that it would pull straight out onto a roundabout as I was coming round it already, I was very close to a squish line on the floor that time.
