Options for Bike2Work spend

Works hopefully going to start the Bike2Work scheme soon.
And after much thought I've decided to get a road bike rather than a HT mountain bike, more chance of me doing long training rides to improve my woeful fitness
I know nowt about road bikes and have been lusting after a Bianchi C2C £595 with Xenon groupset from J E James.
So my questions are:
Is this a good bike?
Is it more bike than I need for a first time road rider?
As per title, what would you call a minimum spend/tech spec for a suitable bike.
Cheers for any advice given.
Ps. I've set a budget of £600

Nothing wrong with Bianchis
It's usually best if you spend as much as you can afford, but the most important thing is to make sure the bike fits.
I was going to get a Trek and ended up with a Specialized Allez, the general spec etc were similar, but the geometary frame and fit made the Spez better for me.
You must try the bike before you buy, buying on line is only a good idea if you know what you are doing
A good deal is no deal if it doesn't fitRichard
Giving it Large0 -
cheers rich
def buying from LBS, hopefully guided to the right sizing and everything0 -
Xenon is the cheapest Campag groupset, but I have no problems with it on my Audax.
If you want to commute though, consider a bike that takes a rack comfortably.0
