is there a formula that, for inputs of weight, speed and time, will tell me how many calories I've burned :?:

Its easier just to get a heart rate monitor, it will do all that for you.

The polar heart rate monitors are very accurate, they take your age and weight into consideration.

So does the Garmin, it's just a shame that once it's taken your age and weight into consideration it then runs those numbers through a completely fictional, pointless set of calculations that give you a ridiculous answer.

Hi I've been using the above site (free and spam free) for the last two weeks. You enter your details, details of what you eat and record your exercise. I've been recording my rides using the "bicycling - moderate effort (12-something mph)" option and monitoring its estimate against my polar heart rate monitor. It's pretty accurate, free too and is really helping me get my weight down by 2lbs a week whilst making sure I eat enough food not to harm my training. :P

I wouldn't worry about how many calories have been burnt. I'd recommend just riding and enjoying it. It is too easy to get tied up with figures. Saying that though I'd also vote for a Polar HRM if you really need to know. I use an F11.
