    hey guys...if your anything like me and catch on realy quick(not being big headed)then i would go with SPD's...i only got mine yesterday and have fallen off alot...but i did a 14 mile ride today and noticed the difference emmideatlty they make it so easy...the falling off bit is just a learning curve...just think ahead!!!!!!!!!!! they realy do make the world of difference... :D

    I did 60 miles before my first comedy fall which resulted in a fractured arm. They are definetly worth it if you work on your pedalling technique and master push-pull.

    used toe clips for about 10 years, spds for 4 years & now V12s & 5-10s for the last 2. You kind of have to learn some skills properly on flats which helps with bike control. I stopped using spds coz I wasn't trying some stuff - however quick you can unclip from spuds, it's not quick enough every time.
    When it comes down to it, I have more fun on the bike with flats, SPDs are more efficient, but the way I see it, if that's true then you're getting fitter keeping up on flats.
    If you ride right, there's no reason for your feet to leave the pedals with flats.
