Whats in your backpack?

Just had a sort through mine and am interested to know what other people take out with them.

My bag has:

A micro fleece, A cag in a bag, Cag in a bag trousers, Spare socks, A pack of macadamia nuts, A sports drink, A bike multi tool, 2 spare inner tubes and a small digital camera. Oh and a tenner in a small press seal plastic bag.

That’s generally what’s in mine all the time, I take food and drink for the day (the nuts and sports drink are backups that are always in there but generally don’t get touched).

I’m in the process of putting together a small medical kit and a small survival kit, which will join the permanent residents of my bag.

So what’s in yours?

Multi-tool, small crappy pump, leaches, Brunch bar, gillet, foil blanket ('cos you never know when you may get stranded on a mountain in Lincolnshire) beer money! oh and mobile phone (switched off BTW), oh an fig rolls (when you can get 'em!), oh and door keys (for when the evening rides have turned into a pub session and Mrs manic doesn't like being knocked-up in the middle of the night!)

What’s with the zip ties? Or am I being blatantly stupid?

The only thing I can think is for cable routing?

Gotta have zip ties, I've got a couple of re-usable ones and a couple of single use ones (they stay tighter). Everything can be fixed with them.

I would add a hooked bungee as well. Very useful

I don't have a functional MTB at the moment, so commuting is all the riding I am managing to do. On weekdays I have the following in my bag:

    Deodorant
    Change of clothes for work
    Shoes
    iPod+ Headphones
    Phone
    Keys
    D-Lock
    Tyre Levers
    Allen Keys
    Inner Tube
    Wallet

I love my Timbuk2 bag, it stores an incredible amount of stuff.

In my CamelBak Blowfish I have:

    Topeak Alien multitool
    Chain splitter
    Spare chain links
    Spare tube
    Park Tool glueless patches
    Tyre Levers
    Pump
2 spare CO2 canisters for pump
    A sharp knife
Basic first aid kit (I've never had to use it but you never know and I feel better knowing it's there)
    Lightweight jacket
    Lights and batteries
Camelbak raincover (used on more than one occasion as a rain cover for me)
In winter I have a couple of those hand warmer packs in there too

    I think that's about it.
