Stripped crank thread

In another clumsy attempt at inspecting my bottom bracket, I've managed to strip the thread on the crank with my crank extractor tool. Obviosuly now the extractor tool won't grip and won't push the crank off.
Is there another way to remove the crank? Hitting it with a hammer seems to make little difference.

you could try a bearing puller. car accessory shop.
or just cut it of and get new cranks."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Thanks Nick.
I might dump it on the LBS though. I've done enough damage already. I'd probably end up sawing through the frame!0 -
be clear with the LBS as to what you want saved... as there is more than one way to do it.
Puller and you may save all bits.
cut arm off and bb is ok.
Cut axle and both bb and arm are scrap..."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Yeah, I did the exact same thing recently. I made a right pigs ear out of the whole thing.
I'd recommend the LBC. Even with a new hacksaw blade you're more likely to escape from Wormwood Scrubs than cut through the axle. I tried and it hardly made a mark.
You could try sawing through the crank arm which is much softer. Thats the route I took and after carefully sawing down in line with the axle on three sides (square taper) I finally got the bloody thing off (with a mallet!)
Now I just have to find a matching crank arm without shelling out on a whole new set.
What a pain in the a**e!
Save yourself arms like popeye and a garage floor full of metal shavings and take the easy way out. LBC.

Hmm...well I needed to replace two chainrings and feels like the BB's on the way out too so I might as well get a whole new chainset and BB (£45 for LX on Merlin) and let them hack the whole thing to pieces if they want!
Thanks for the advice guys.0
